Johann Puch was born on 27 June 1862 in the community of Sakušak near Juršinci. In 1885 he settled in Graz. In 1899 he founded the "Styria Werke" which, in 1901, produced the first motorcycle powered by a petrol engine.
The society was founded in 2000, at the same time as the Johann Puch-Janez Puh Museum in Sakušak. The purpose of the Society is to preserve the technical legacy and memoirs of Johann Puch, and to celebrate his work and inventions.
